Piano services, one technician
Every piano I work on gets the same treatment as I do as the Head Piano Technician at Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. The pianos get tuned to A440, regulated so the action responds evenly, and voiced so the tone is warm across its full range. I am a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild, and trained at the Steinway & Sons, Yamaha, Bösendorfer and Shigeru Kawai factories or academies.
I serve homes, schools, churches and institutions across Houston, West University Place, Bellaire, River Oaks, Memorial and Sugar Land. You will always deal with me directly, from the first call to the last note.
How a visit works
- You call me or text me. Tell me the brand and the model of the piano if you know it, tell me when was the last time it was tuned and where is the piano located.
- I assess before I quote. For anything beyond a standard tuning, I look at the instrument first and give you a clear estimate. No surprises.
- The work, explained. I tell you what I found and what I did.
Included with every tuning
- Tuning to A440 concert pitch (or to the pitch your instrument needs, if you prefer)
- Inspection of the action, strings, soundboard and pedals
- Minor adjustments where they take minutes rather than hours
- Honest advice on what your piano needs next, and what it does not
- A clear price: tuning from $150, varies by area; everything else quoted before the work
Every type of piano
I service all kinds of upright pianos, concert grands, a Steinway inherited from a grandmother, a digital-hybrid piano in a teaching studio. Over two decades I have taken care of the pianos at Loyola University New Orleans, Louisiana State University, NOCCA, the University of Southern Mississippi and now the University of Houston, and in hundreds of homes. Houston is home now, and the standard travels with me.
